What is Prokoncept Building Technology?

Creo Prokoncept, manufactured from Hungary, EU (hence referred as Prokoncept) is a revolutionary building technology. It is a comprehensive building system that provides you low energy residential and commercial/industrial building solution.

Prokoncept are interlocking modular units (or elements) that are dry-stacked (without mortar) and filled with concrete. They lock together somewhat like Lego bricks and serve to create a form for the structural walls of a building. Concrete is pumped into the cavity to form the structural element of the walls. Usually, reinforcing steel is added before concrete placement to give the resulting walls flexural strength, similar to bridges and high-rise buildings made of concrete.

It is fast becoming a most popular solution for new building project due to soaring fossil fuel price. They easily exceeds all aspect of demanding energy efficient specification and regulation set by the Government designed to meet greenhouse gas emission as part of obligation to meet Kyoto treaty.

 

This building technology was devised about 20 years ago. For last 20 years, many hundreds of thousands of building have been completed around the world.

Quick and Clean Construction

The “Lego” like elements simply lock together according to the steps below:

 

(a) Once the Prokoncept brick wall is formed, concrete is poured into void gap.

(b) When the concrete is set, they form a high strength, durable walls.

(c) With experienced builders, the construction of one floor may take roughly 1-2 days.

 

Note: Reinforcing steel rods are inserted within gap before concrete is poured.

Warm in winter, cool in summer

Prokoncept is a double sided polystyrene insulation.

 

During winter, the outer wall keeps cold air out and inner wall keep interior warm and vice versa for summer.

 

The U value (a expression of wall insulation performance, lower the number, better performance) of the Prokoncept layers.

Conventional low cost building practice, commonly used in Bulgaria, even with limited insulation layer (ie 2 - 5cm thick) has U value two or twenty time worst than above. The owner of an inferior building is more likely to pay much higher energy bill.

Easy Pipe and Electrical cable channel installation

Using a special tool, the insulation layer can be cut to create several channels for electrical cable and pipes. Because the material is already insulated, they keep hot water hot and protect cold water pipe from freezing.
Once the interior pipes and cables are installed, plaster board can be mounted direct to the wall (no need for batten or stub), concrete wall provide this required strength to secure the plaster board.

Will homeowners save money living in a Prokoncept home?

Because ICF walls feature thicker unbroken layers of insulation and the mass of concrete, they provide much better energy performance than conventional wood frame construction.

Computer simulations comparing concrete homes to wood frame construction have shown the combined effects of lower U-values, low air infiltration and the impact of concrete's thermal mass all combined. The results indicated it will provide a significant operating cost savings.

Savings will vary by climate with the inherent thermal mass benefits having more impact in warmer locations and the added insulation being more critical in colder areas.

Thinner walls mean more interior space, higher sale value!

Standard Prokoncept brick is 25cm think, in term of insulation performance, they corresponds with a 60cm thick wall conventional clay-brick wall.

 

With thinner wall, you achieve larger interior space than conventional clay brick technology.

How Prokoncept benefits Ground Source Heat Pump installation cost?

Because Prokoncept benefits superior insulation performance, which lower the overall heating and cooling demands, especailly for a large building. The sizing of the heating and cooling equipment become less demanding, for example 100m2:

Construction Cost

The key benefits of Prokoncept building technology is feature inherent dual-insulation wall, which mean it removes extra labour task, cost and material necessary mount insulation layer as this is often done on traditional building.

By eliminating all the extra works, it speeds up the project completion. In addition, with traditional building, there are greater risks of non-insulated part of the wall (a thermal bridge gaps) due to incompetence worker. These create uncertainty as it is difficult to check the quality of the workmanship. With Prokoncept, it eliminated these uncertainties.

Prokoncept Floor can span for 10 meters without pillar

Due to lightweight construction of the floor layer and the way the load bearing is passed to external Prokoncept wall structure, it can support the floor for up to 10 meter or possibly longer without the need for load bearing pillar supports and also remove the need for foundation.

 

This means you have more freedom to optimize room layout during architect project. You no longer constrained by the ugly pillar that gets in the way.

 

It cans possibility support up to 5 stories without the need of pillar supports.
